Vinous Neal Martin - 12 Dec 23
The 2019 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has the leanest aromatics among the series of wines from this climat, some reduction deftly applied and allowing the terroir to shine through. Great tension on the waxy, linseed-tinged nose is maintained over 30 minutes.

Meursault

Meursault, in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, is famed for its rich and complex Chardonnay wines. Known for opulent textures, vibrant acidity, and nutty, buttery flavours with notes of stone fruits, citrus, and hazelnuts, these wines also feature a subtle minerality and creamy mouthfeel from limestone-rich soils and oak ageing. Though lacking Grand Cru vineyards, Premier Cru sites like Les Perrières, Les Genevrières, and Les Charmes produce exceptional wines. Top producers include Domaine des Comtes Lafon, Domaine Roulot, and Domaine Coche-Dury, all celebrated for showcasing Meursault's unique terroir.
